Role
The role sits within the Financial Markets Technology function and consists in leading the Trade Lake squads and be responsible for all Trade Lake deliveries.
The Trade Lake is being developed and supported by 4 multi-disciplinary squads of 40 people in total, delivering to circa 12 business initiatives, such as:

Business Development

  • On-boarding of new businesses and trading entities
  • Migration of FM FXMM trade processing system
  • Development of new capabilities (data supply for fixing advice, "wholesale view" build out for the Liquidity Reporting function)

Regulatory

  • European Market Infrastructure Regulation (EMIR II) transaction reporting
  • Security and Exchange Commission transaction reporting
  • Commodity Future Trading Commission (CFTC) rewrite


Infrastructure

  • Hortonworks to Cloudera upgrade (Hadoop)
  • Failover full automation
  • "Push to production" automation


The delivery is organized in scrums and governed by an overall scrum of scrum (SOS). It entails software development, vendor platform upgrades, thorough end to end trade data readiness testing and maintaining a mature CI / CD framework. The business initiatives often having similar requirements, it is an essential part of the role to understand these synergies and organize the solution design and delivery optimally, leveraging these synergies.

With direct responsibility for 8 business analysts and delivery leads, and control over 40 squad members, the successful candidate will need to be a natural leader and mentor with a driven yet pragmatic, delivery focused mindset and a desire to deliver constant business value through the effective and innovative use of technology.

The candidate will be expected to take ownership, responsibility, and accountability for critical deliveries. In addition, the successful candidate will have come from a mature and demonstrable Agile and Business Analysis background and be comfortable dealing with the resistance that comes with change.
A sound knowledge of Financial Market trades and product is essential.

The candidate will work closely with the other team members: Development Lead, Product Owner, Production Support Lead and senior stakeholders to design and implement critical strategic solutions whilst collaborating and engaging with Business Stakeholders to deliver to exact requirements. The candidate is expected to work in a dynamic global team with business analysts, developers, project managers, business stakeholders and other technical experts across multiple locations while leading and helping to lead and build the local development team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Leverage domain knowledge and expertise to coordinate the definition of solutions for the problem at hand on data related matters. Support the delivery teams in solving complex problems.
  • Manage workload allocation for the team and monitor performance of direct reportees.
  • Definition of implementation planning and support to all stakeholders in delivering the expected outcome in a predictable and transparent manner.
  • Solution implementation and change managed in accordance with agreed best practice.
  • Continuously optimize the solution, actively clearing technical debt.
  • Continuously optimize the software delivery process and CI / CD maturity.
  • Ensure the creation of SDLC artefacts in line with corporate governance requirements: scope definition, testing plan, acceptance criteria, roll out plans, financials management.
  • Establish a position of the point of reference and escalation for all matter related to the Trade Lake.
  • Represent the interests of the FM Technology, where necessary, in relevant committees or management forums.
  • Prepare and / or contribute material to relevant, higher-management committees as required.
  • Record and continually review and revise the assessments of programme risks and issues.

Our Ideal Candidate

  • Bachelor's / Master's degree in Banking / Finance / Management from a well-reputed university.
  • 10+ years of experience in Software delivery Management.
  • Ability to provide direction and leadership; able to deal with uncertainty.

Knowledge and Experience

  • Extensive knowledge and first-hand experience of Financial Markets products and trade life cycle.
  • Experience implementing trade STP across multiple source platforms. Knowledge of transaction modelling language and standards, FpML, ISDA CDM standard.
  • Knowledge of FM product pricing is a plus (at least in one asset class).
  • Expert in full life-cycle software design and implementation with post-implementation support.
  • Advanced in planning, organizing and leading technology projects (> 30-50 people) in Financial Markets.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience working with senior business stakeholders and executive committees.
